1. Getting started

10 minutes. By the end you'll have logged in, picked an organization, and know what every part of the screen does.

Step 1 — Log in

Browse to your DT Edge Platform URL. The login page offers up to three paths depending on how your install is configured:

Path A — Email + password (default)

Enter email + password. If 2FA is enabled on your account, you'll be prompted for a 6-digit code from your authenticator app.

Stuck? If the form says "Public registration is currently disabled", you can't self-register. Ask your administrator to invite you. Once they do, you'll receive an email with an invitation link — open it and follow the prompts.

Path B — Single sign-on (SSO)

If your organization uses SSO, you'll see a Sign in with SSO button. Click it, type your organization realm (the slug your admin gave you, e.g. acme), and click Continue.

You're redirected to your identity provider (Auth0, Keycloak, Azure AD, …). Authenticate there with whatever your IdP requires (password, MFA, hardware token). After success you land back in dtedge.

If your realm doesn't have its own SSO but the install has a global SSO configured, leave the realm blank — global SSO authenticates everyone.

Required SSO? Some orgs configure require_sso=true — regular users can't use the email+password form at all and must come through the IdP. If you try anyway you'll see a "SSO required" error.

Path C — Already invited

If someone invited you via email, the invitation link opens a flow that either prompts you to set a password (local invite) or redirects you straight into SSO (SSO-only org).

Step 2 — Pick your organization

Top-left of the page, just under the logo, there's an organization selector. If you belong to one organization, it's already selected. If you belong to several, click the selector and choose the one you want to work in.

Almost every page in DT Edge Platform is organization-scoped — what you see is filtered to the active organization. The selector value is remembered between sessions.

Step 3 — Read the dashboard

The default landing page is the Dashboard:

  • Stat cards at the top — quick counts (edge instances, registries, marketplace packages, active releases).
  • Recent deployments — the last few helm operations the org has run.
  • (Single-tenancy installs only) Cluster overview — host + Kubernetes metrics for the auto-bootstrapped local cluster, refreshed every 60 seconds.

Step 4 — Tour the sidebar

The left sidebar is your map. From top to bottom:

SectionWhat it's for
DashboardWhere you just landed
OrganizationsVisible only in multi-tenant installs; manage which orgs you're in
Edge InstancesClusters this org manages
RegistriesHelm chart sources this org has registered
MarketplaceApps this org has published or can install
ApplicationsHelm releases currently installed on org's clusters
AlarmsGrafana-backed alert rules for this org's edges
Audit LogsWho did what, when
SettingsYour own profile, password, 2FA
AdminVisible only if you're a super-admin — system-wide pages

If a section is greyed out, it usually means you haven't selected an organization yet. Pick one with the selector at the top.

Go to Settings → Two-Factor Authentication. Click "Enable", scan the QR code with your authenticator app (Google Authenticator, Authy, 1Password, …), enter the verification code, and save.

If your install has 2FA required by policy but you haven't enrolled yet, the login flow itself will walk you through this on your next sign-in.

What's next

Now that you can log in and you know where things live, you're ready for Tutorial 2 — Your first edge instance and your first app.

If you'd rather poke around on your own, the Sidebar reference has the full navigation map and the Explanation: What is DT Edge Platform? covers the big picture in five minutes.
