Keyboard shortcuts and tips

Small UX behaviours that aren't visible in the chrome but make day-to-day use faster.

DT Edge Platform doesn't ship a global shortcut overlay or command palette. The shortcuts below are either browser-native, built into the data-table widget, or surface inside specific dialogs.

Browser-level​

  • Cmd / Ctrl + K — focuses the URL bar (browser default). DT Edge Platform doesn't intercept this. To search the page itself, use the per-page filter chips.
  • Cmd / Ctrl + F — browser find. Useful inside long audit log or release lists where the search field doesn't help (e.g. finding a partial JSON fragment).
  • Back / Forward — every page push (drawers, dialogs, detail pages) is a history entry. Browser Back closes the current overlay first, then navigates.

Data tables​

Every list page (Edge Instances, Registries, Marketplace, Applications, Alarms, Audit Logs, etc.) uses the same DataTable component. Behaviours:

  • Click a row — opens the detail drawer / page
  • Pagination — ?page=N is in the URL; bookmarkable
  • Filter chips — every chip writes to the URL; share the URL to share the view
  • Empty state — shown after filters narrow the list to zero, with a "Clear filters" link

Forms​

  • Enter — submits the focused form's primary action when the cursor is in a single-line input. Multi-line fields (Textarea, YAML, kubeconfig paste) use Cmd/Ctrl+Enter where the form enables it
  • Esc — closes the topmost drawer / dialog. If a form has unsaved edits, you get a confirm-before-discard prompt
  • Tab — visits every input in order including switches and buttons; Shift+Tab reverses

Copy-friendly fields​

Several widgets are designed for one-click copy:

  • Telemetry ID in the Edge Instances list — click the shortened cell to copy the full UUID
  • Cluster fingerprint on the License page — copy-to-clipboard button next to the value (you'll need it when minting a license)
  • API key plaintext at create time — copy-to-clipboard button; the page won't show this value again
  • Release name + namespace in operations toasts — handy for pasting into kubectl

Org switcher​

The org selector at the top of the sidebar:

  • Remembers your last choice between sessions (persisted to localStorage, scoped to your user)
  • Filters every page that's org-scoped — switching orgs re-fetches all visible data
  • Shows a search input when you're a member of more than ~10 orgs

Language and theme​

  • Language toggle in the top bar — EN ↔ TR. Affects every label, including this docs page. Choice persists.
  • Theme toggle — Light / Dark / System. Light and Dark are hard preferences; System follows your OS setting (and switches in real time when your OS does).

Notifications​

The bell icon in the top bar:

  • Operations sub-tab — running async ops (helm install, VM actions, backups) with live status
  • Alarms sub-tab — currently firing alarms in the active org
  • A red dot appears as soon as anything new lands; it clears when you open the bell

URL conventions​

A few URL shapes that are worth knowing:

Most detail pages keep their tab in the URL — bookmarking the URL bookmarks the tab.

Tips that aren't shortcuts​

A few things that confuse new users:

  • The sidebar grays out when no org is selected. Pick one from the top selector before clicking org-scoped items.
  • Marketplace install reads the namespace from the package manifest, not the cluster. If you want a different namespace, use Helm install instead of Marketplace install.
  • Fluent-bit's password lives next to OpenSearch's. They share the same secret because fluent-bit logs in as the OpenSearch admin. If you rotate one, rotate both.
  • Disabling an alarm preserves the rule. Use Disable when you want to silence noise without losing the definition; Delete is permanent.
  • Public Edges are visible to every org. Don't put customer-specific data on a public edge by accident.

What's deliberately not here​

  • No global command palette (Cmd+K). It's been requested; no concrete plan yet.
  • No vim-style navigation. Tab + arrows only.
  • No drag-and-drop reordering for sidebar items, alarms, or registries — the order is system-defined.
  • No "duplicate this row" action. Use Edit on an existing one, or fill the new-form by hand.
