Change your password

Self-service password change. Doesn't disturb 2FA, doesn't log you out of other sessions.

Steps

  1. Sidebar → Settings → Account card
  2. Change password section
  3. Enter:
    • Current password — to prove you're the owner
    • New password — must satisfy the policy (see below)
    • Confirm new password
  4. Save

You stay logged in. Other open sessions of yours stay logged in too — JWTs are stateless and the server doesn't track them. To kick everyone out, your admin can rotate JWT_SECRET (drastic).

Password policy

DT Edge Platform enforces:

  • At least 8 characters
  • At least one uppercase letter
  • At least one lowercase letter
  • At least one digit
  • At least one symbol (e.g. !@#$%)

Server-side validation rejects passwords that fail any of these with a specific error code. The new-password input shows live hints as you type.

A password manager-generated random string easily satisfies all five — recommended.

Forgot the current password

Self-service reset (email-based) isn't built yet. Two paths:

  • Ask your admin — they can set a new password for you via Admin → Users → row actions → Set password. They'll send you the new one out-of-band; change it immediately to something only you know.
  • If you're a super-admin and locked out — direct DB intervention is needed. See the backend JWT/2FA runbook.

Common errors

  • PASSWORD_TOO_SHORT — under 8 chars
  • PASSWORD_NO_LOWERCASE / _NO_UPPERCASE / _NO_DIGIT / _NO_SYMBOL — missing one of the required character classes
  • INVALID_CREDENTIALS on submit — current password wrong
